The Local Employment Planning Council, in partnership with the Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce, will be co-hosting the annual Aboriginal Partnership Exchange (APEX) Speaker Series this year on Thursday, October 31 from 7:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.
LEPC's Sharing Best Practices & Promising Approaches Event
On February 28, 2019, the LEPC hosted a luncheon with industry partners and community stakeholders to showcase best practices and facilitate continued collaborative planning in the region beyond the LEPC's tenure.
International Lessons in Developing a Highly Skilled Workforce Event
The LEPC in partnership with the Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce and local business owner Uli Walther hosted a series of engagement sessions focusing on the potential for adopting new strategies and best practices that have been successfully implemented in apprenticeship systems in other jurisdictions.
North by Numbers
The LEPC, in partnership with the Northern Policy Institute (NPI) developed an online tool for uploading and disseminating labour market supply and demand information collected at the community (CSD) level. (In StatsCan the Census Sub Division or CSD is the general term for municipalities). This tool will ultimately assist in decision making, improving understanding of current and future skills requirements, and improve the ability of service providers to coordinate planning and manage cooperative responses to affect positive client outcomes.
Celebrating and Advancing the Initiatives of the LEPC
On June 12th, 2017, the LEPC hosted an event focused on acknowledging the past, present and future efforts of community partners who have worked alongside and supported the LEPC and it's initiatives. The purpose of this event was to demonstrate how the ongoing efforts of the LEPC contribute to workforce development on a larger scale including at the local, regional, provincial and federal levels.
